Marcia Bauman
Marcia was an Art Major in High School. She was taught how to create art in various mediums, with the exception of colored pencil drawing. Because of circumstances she had to set aside her hopes of going on to college and instead, she started working for a living at age seventeen. This would be the beginning of a twenty-seven year career with Catalina Swimwear/Sportswear in Los Angeles, California, becoming the Vice President of Sportswear Promotions and Merchandising.
In 2013 she retired and she and her husband Paul moved to Prescott, now their hometown.
This is when she picked up the colored pencils and began drawing. She says she actually began to cry as her first piece took shape and the details came out. "I couldn't believe I could DRAW!" Now, it is her PASSION! She says, "I even draw in my sleep!"
Colored pencil drawing takes a lot of patience and time. Each drawing has layer upon layer of color, from light to dark. What you see in her drawings is not just a few colored pencil strokes, but "hundreds" of strokes. Though it is extremely time consuming, she loves the process and the finished piece is so rewarding to her.
Training: Marcia is self-taught in colored pencil drawing. When she moved to Prescott, she took classes in pastels, taught by local artist Don Rantz.
Personal Life: Marcia and her husband, Paul, have been married for thirty-five years. They moved to Prescott from Whittier, California in 2014 with their two dogs and two cats. They enjoy spending time with friends and family and, of course, all the great things Prescott has to offer.
