I have always loved creating. When I was a child, my Mother taught me to sew. As a teenager I learned to macramé. In adulthood, I taught myself to crochet. My love for mosaic art was sparked after my retirement when my daughter gifted me a book about mosaics and a variety of pre-cut glass tiles. Seven years later, it has become my passion and a comforting refuge from the world. My workspace is a place I love, and I find myself craving the creative release I feel when I spend time there.
I draw inspiration for my art from the beauty in nature, the world around us and the emotions that drive the human spirit. This explains the diverse nature of my finished work. I’m also inspired by the substrates I use for my pieces. I love finding unique treasures that have been discarded … possibly a picture frame, a wooden tray or a clay pot … and giving them new life. Glass inspires me and speaks to me as well. The textures, the colors and the way it chooses to break in the most unpredictable ways.
My goal is to constantly learn, grow, improve, experiment and perfect my art. One of my greatest joys is creating something beautiful and sharing it with others.

Personal life

I was born in Iowa, the youngest of six children. My family moved to Arizona when I was a year old, so I consider myself a native Arizonan. I am mother to four adult children. Two by birth and two bonus children that I gained by marriage. I am also Grandma, Bebe and Oma to 7 (soon to be 8) grandchildren.
