Robert Sandeen

Robert Sandeen’s journey as a woodcarver took flight with his first carvings—simple walking sticks—before he ventured into the intricate world of bird carvings. His work gained recognition when he started displaying at arts and crafts festivals, where his detailed pieces, including a standout owl, caught the eye of many. Hooked on the craft, Robert honed his skills, eventually teaching classes and sharing his expertise. His carvings, often of birds, reflect a meticulous process, from rough cuts to smooth finishes, and are showcased in windows at Prescott’s Golden Retriever and Mesa locations. A proud moment came in 2003 when he won first place at the Best of Show in the Grand Canyon Woodcarvers Show, a testament to his dedication. Today, Robert continues to carve, finding joy in creating and passing his knowledge to others, with his favorite medium remaining wood.

Today, Robert continues to switch between artistic mediums, but he always returns to his favorite—carving fan birds from wood, where his lifelong love for the craft truly shines.
