Daryl Butricks

Daryl was born and raised in Prescott. He loves his hometown in Prescott and
loves the forest that surrounds the town. Daryl found his passion for wood and
unique wood grains during his Junior High School days when schools still offered
wood shop classes. There is nothing like the smell and the beauty of different
wood grains. Wood is a divine and perfect canvas for his art. He names his
pieces after the areas he finds the rough burls. The wood could be laying in
creek beds or under large amounts of debris. He incorporates the colors of epoxy
into his work. Daryl has a gift to see the beauty in the wood while dirty and
oxidized.

Daryl managed two local Oak furniture stores and became educated in wood
decoration. He moved on to a career with the Yavapai Juvenile Probation
Department for 19 years and Mental Health Management for 15 years. During
that time he also was raising his son to enjoy wood art. They built 1920 and 30s
wood nostalgic cars and trucks from scratch. They showed the art pieces at the
local fair and won many ribbons and trophies. When his son grew and moved
away Daryl still kept his passion moving forward.

Daryl and his wife Lissa have searched the local forest for that perfect burl or root
ball to sculpt into beautiful art pieces. In 2020 he decided that he would source
live edge wood from mills across the state and start his hobby business. Daryl
sells live edge wood slabs and burls from his home to artists and wood
enthusiasts from all over the state. He then gets to select his choice wood for his
studio.
